Century Theatres Breaks Ground at Cedar Hills Crossing

Wednesday, April 7th, Century Theatres and C.E. John Company broke ground on Cedar Hills Crossing 16 and officially opened the Crossing's new west entry to the Barking Frog Shops and Restaurants. Beaverton's Mayor Rob Drake and Century Theatre's President and CEO, David Shesgreen, joined C.E. John Company in celebration of reaching this important milestone in the development of Cedar Hills Crossing, formerly Beaverton Mall.

"We're excited about the changes that are happening at Cedar Hills Crossing. Improvements on the west side are progressing with the Barking Frog restaurants and west entrance facing the new theater site" says Chris Sloan, Manager of Cedar Hills Crossing. "The new storefronts along Hocken Avenue give that area a completely new look."

The new 16 screen, state-of-the-art Century Theater will feature all stadium seating, rocking love seats, digital stereo sound, Lucasfilm THX certification and a Starcade Gameroom. The new theater will offer patrons an opportunity to relax and discuss the movies they've just seen at the unique Café Cinema, featuring gourmet desserts and coffees. Tickets will be available in advance on Fandango.com or 1-800-fandango. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2004.

C.E. John Company began the redevelopment of Cedar Hills Crossing (formerly Beaverton Mall) in September 2002. Changes include three new mall entries, new building facades, the addition of approximately 40,000 square feet of new retail space, interior mall improvements and the addition of new restaurants. Century Theatres is a successful picture exhibitor, in the midst of a major expansion program adding 250 screens over the next three years. What is a "barking frog"?

Found in the southwest, the Eleutherodactylus Augusti belongs to the Leptodactylid family of frogs. Surprisingly, the low throaty croak of the Eleutherodactylus Augusti resembles the bark of a dog and so is nicknamed, The Barking Frog!

At Cedar Hills Crossing, The Barking Frog is the new name of the interior mall shops and restaurants located between G.I. Joe's and Golf Galaxy.
